Iceland's glacial ice caves are only accessible in winter, when the ice is stable enough to enter safely. Getting there requires a lifted jeep and a guide, and the reward is this, a ceiling of compressed glacial ice so dense it has turned a deep translucent blue, hovering above volcanic black rock below.
