Playa de las Catedrales only reveals itself at low tide. The massive rock arches that give the beach its name are only accessible for a few hours before the Atlantic comes back and takes them away again. We timed it wrong the first morning and arrived to find the water already returning. The second morning we got it right. I knew we had because there were a handful of other photographers already there in the dark, all of us after the same thing. That orange horizon through the arch, the smaller arch framed inside it, the wet sand catching the last of the color. Worth getting up for twice.
