Wormsloe Historic Site outside Savannah is famous for its mile-long avenue of live oaks, but on a late afternoon walk I found myself stopping here instead. Two old trees, a bench between them, and the forest going quiet in every direction. Someone put that bench there for a reason and whoever it was had good instincts.
